Leif Garrett was arrested recently... possession of herion. I realize a lot of people do not know who he is... and many others have forgotten about Leif. I never could.
There were probably Thousands of teenage girls in the 70's who had posters of the then 'Teen Heartthrob' on their walls (along with other fellas like the then black Michael Jackson or Bobby Sherman). I was one of the girls who bought Teen Beat magazine just to get a new centrefold of my celebrity crush.
Back then, Leif had shoulder-length, wavey, honey-brown coloured hair and big soft eyes... and, could he sing. Well, at least that's what we all thought.
In 1975 he starred in 'TV Drama', called Three For The Road, along with Alex Rocco and Vince Van Patten. The premise for this story is a fairly simple one. A freelance writer/photographer is widowed with 2 teenage boys. He decides to travel across America with those kids in an RV... and the adventures begin.
It only aired for 13 episodes, but I never forgot it. That was it! That was the life for me. Travelling from town to town... State to State, from East Coast to West. Adventure, here I come!!!
Well, here we are... 35 Years Later. I have yet to buy (or rent) an RV and I have yet to drive across country - but I do LOVE to Drive. Anyone who knows me, knows this. I can't imagine ever turning down the opportunity for a road trip. I love the road... If you fly, you miss everything. If you take a train or a bus, you do get to see more, however you cannot stop where ever you like. Besides, drive yourself and you save a whole lot of money. No brainer, really.
I have plans, BIG plans. I intend to become Mobile, by this time next year. I want to be able to come and go as I please. I can take my gig on the road too. As long as I have internet connection and access to a phone, fax & printer... I'll be Good to Go.
I'm sorry that good ole Leif has found so much trouble in his life... it's sad. I hope he someday finds peace. As for me... I look forward to one day soon write to you, from the Road. I think I will have to call my Road Trip... Three For The Road Too.
Love and Peace.
